I thought so but didn't see any big bad banksia men lurking in the branches. What does a waratah look like?

It's kind of like a brush up close. There is another similar one which is actually called a 'bottle brush'.

It's a callistemon - a yellow one (there's many varieties), and yes, commonly called a bottlebrush.

Don't be scared to hack it back once in a while. (In the bush, it would get burned back sometimes).
