We get these in our area too but you can't generally get this close.

Beautiful. My sister has a really nice photo she shot of one in her neighborhood once but all I saw was the white ones (and a king fisher and a pair of sunbirds and some hawks).

Thanks, Sharlee. We get some beautiful bird life here. Could also hear kookaburras cacklign away but they weren't close enough to photograph.

Your sister is in North Queensland, right? I think (and someone correct me if I am wrong) that these birds tend to live further South. King fishers are cool though. And birds of prey!

Yes she is. I think they do have them there, I saw a couple in Cairns, but they are shy.

You can find these birds flying around in your neighbourhood?? Over here we can only find them in cages at pet shops. :)

We get a lot of rainbow lorikeets here but I haven't seen them that close. They're usually clustered high in the trees being extremely noisy.

We fed some of these at the San Deigo Wild Animal Park. You're given a wee cup of nectar (probably sugar water) and you walk into this huge aviary and the brids will sit on a branch (or on your hand if you're lucky) and sip the nectar! Their colours are quite vibrant in person!

They are native birds here so yes, lots flying around. We have a tree out the front that they seem to like feeding in.

Same here. This was actually next to a school so can only assume that the kids must put seed out for them normally. I don't think they are the kind of birds that scavenge normally.
