Do you ever read the "Acknowledgments" at the beginning or end of a book? Why or why not? Bonus points: What book contains your favorite acknowledgments?

I do but then my husband jokes that I am such a compulsive reader that I would even read the phone book (or, Heaven forbid, the Sports pages!) if I was stuck with nothing else to read (and yes, I must admit that I have done both these things). I don't normally remember them though so wouldn't be able to pick a favourite (not that tragic!).

Ha! I love this question. I was actually mentioned in my friend's book acknowledgments... which is being published this month, coincidentally. Anyway, I'm one of those habitual cover-to-cover readers that miss almost nothing. One of the first things I'll check is the copyright date (various reasons). I've grabbed a dictionary when there's nothing else to read, but never the sports pages! *GASP* You must have been very, very desperate...?

My husband was quite amazed, ie, started telling me about some promising new rugby league player and I already knew all about him (and I hate rugby league).

I also read those little reviews of other books that you find at the end of novels.

Well done on being acknowledged! That would have to be your favourite acknowledgements, I would guess.
