Message boards and mummy wars

Good for you mum. You don't need other parents telling you how to raise your kids anyways!

Happy Meals are gross but I buy them for my daughter as well and with a pregnant wife's cravings,it seems more often lately. However, they are looked at as a treat, not a common meal in our home. Your doing great I'm sure. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I think the 'meal' bit is a bit misleading. I also consider them 'treats' rather than 'meals'. My kids probably get them once every couple of months and yes, it is usually because there is some particular toy they are hassling me for (the fake iPod is one that springs to mind). At the moment the State Govt here is being criticised by health groups because they have entered into a deal with Hungry Jacks (Burger King) to give out tickets to popular tourist attractions with kids meals (ie, essentially an $18 ticket for the price of a $4.50 meal. While I agree it is dodgy, it has prompted me to buy two of these meals just to get the tickets!
Not that I am a fan of Happy Meals - I don't take my children to McDonalds - they do offer nutritional choices here in the US - such as apples, milk, natural juices, etc...not sure about Australia and the toys compared to the Australia version, seem to have better functioning qualities. Just an observation.
