It is for summer pyjamas ("the pyjamams shot" which I think means short sleeved pyjamas) and some kind of "magic" writing paper that Crayola makes. My husband wrote the ice cream entry at the top.
thanks. He turned 5 in March. he has already been at school for half a year as our school year starts in late January. I think he has only tried to write things by sounding them out like that in the last week or so - so a bit of a breakthrough really! :)
Again, I say, great job! My daughter also turned 5 in March, but doesn't start Kindergarten until September (being on the opposite side of the planet, and all), and she is only just getting the idea of sounding things out. My dining room right now looks like it's been smathered in Post-it notes as we create lists of sight words and word families.
Congrats again, cuz I don't think Maddy would be able to write as "clearly".
It is amazing how kids just 'get it' all of a sudden though, isn't it? I remember my daughter was having a lot of trouble with writing her letters back to front, upside down etc even in Year 1 (2nd year of school here). I remember when she suddenly 'got' how to read fluently that her writing problems also seemed to just fix themselves overnight as well.
J mostly been doing sight words for reading up to now too. I'm sure your daughter will be well ahead of the pack when she starts kindergarten. Don't think J could read any words apart from a few names when he started in Jan.
It's funny how you mention the reversals. Maddy actually asks me if its a "b" or "d" as a double check before sounding out a word (definitely common at this age). And usually she is right, but I know that she wants confirmation before she starts.
We will continue working on some sight words and literacy skills before the summer (here) is over. As is the plight of a teacher's child!
PS: I'm not really competitive. Really, I'm not. :)
I am a teacher too but a high school one and not currently working as one. I give my older daughter impromptu poetry analysis lessons and things on Saturday mornings sometimes. My dad was the same - everything had to be educational. lol
Your older daughter might appreciate the new t-shirt I just bought. As might you.
And yet again, we have an intellectual conversation under the photo of a subject that has nothing to do with our current ideas. I am so enjoying you as part of my neighbourhood, Emu.
