New Australian film: The Black Balloon

My husband and I went and saw this film on the weekend and both really loved it. Don't be put off by the fact that it is about autism. This is nothing like Rain Man etc. It is very down to earth and both funny and sad. The director of the film has based it on her own life experiences of growing up with a father in the army and not one (as in the film) but two brothers with autism.

No I haven't seen that one. Not sure if it has been on in Australia yet. Will keep an eye out.
You will definitely like Black Balloon. It has the support of the Australian autism association (ASPECT) and also includes quite a few autistic young people in support roles.
