white is such an utterly ridiculous colour for a school uniform to be worn by 6yo boys!
The school has a really big focus on teaching children to be kind to the environment. Yet, here I am using heaps of bleach every day just to keep these stupid white shirts looking relatively clean. After yesterday's effort (he had been doing painting at after school care while wearing a smock), I think I might as well give up! I have kept one shirt all pristine in its plastic wrapper and will only wash it this weekend in preparation for next week's school photo day. After that, all bets are off as far as I am concerned.

Even though I have lived in Sydney for more than 10 years now, I still get a thrill when I catch a glimpse of the harbour through the city blocks. The sight of it has inspired many artists including Brett Whiteley.
I also love that there is still public housing next to the Harbour as much as some people would like to see it demolished and replaced with housing for millionaires.
I haven't done this for a few weeks but will try and be more disciplined about it. Here are my things for this Tuesday:
Negative things:
- still getting over the cold/flu I had last week and my voice is yet to fully return
- feeling overwhelmed by mess and clutter at home
- someone left the fridge door open yesterday and lots of food was ruined
- missing school uniform pieces and my new black t-shirt which has just vanished into thin air (I am blaming my husband, of course)
Positive things:
- feel 100 times better than I did last week
- found a yoga class near my work that I like (this will be in addition to my Saturday class)
- going out to a comedy night with a bunch of mum friends tonight (the comedian also a mum - Fiona O'Loughlin from Alice Springs)
- starting Kung Fu this week as a way of spending "quality time" with my Kung Fu-obsessed daughter (actually this may turn out to be a negative thing if I get punched too hard!)
- my new workstation in the office - much more private and salubrious than my old one
Looking forward to:
- Going to see Sculpture by the Sea at Bondi and Tamarama hopefully after work one night this week
- Christmas on the island

I took my daughter and her friend (as a birthday present) to see the most hilarious adaptation of a Shakespeare play ever on Saturday night. The highlight for the girls was seeing Banquo flashing his bottom as he skateboarded across the stage dressed as a Scottish angel. He also did a bit of a Sharon Stone impersonation but with a strategically placed sporrin (thankfully!). The whole show was funny though. It was about some school children (characters from Andy Griffiths Just series of books) who managed to get themselves transported back to Macbeth times and get mistaken for the three main characters. It contained a lot of the original Shakespeare play but with lots of jokes and modern English interpretations.
This was the second Shakespeare play for these two girls. Last Summer we took them to an outdoor production of Much Ado About Nothing put on by the Sydney Shakespeare Company. That was more of a faithful production so I was pleasantly surprised at how much the girls enjoyed it. My daughter's only previous exposure to Shakespeare had been watching West Side Story and She's The Man (a modern adaptation of Twelfth Night starring Amanda Bynes as a soccer playing Viola) on DVD.
