Which popular slang expression drives you nuts?
Wow, where to start! My kids pick up so many awful expressions from school, it is hard to pick just one. Probably the most pervasive is "Oh my God" but the way they say it, it sounds more like "Aw moi Gawd" but I have pretty much become immune to that one after so many years. My daughter also peppers her speech with the word "like", describes things that she thinks are good as "sick" and has had to be stopped from using insults such as "loser" to describe her brother and from using phrases such as "talk to the booty, cos the hands off duty" (which she got from Dolly Parton on "Hannah Montana"). Probaby my least favourite is the word "butt" though as even adults are using this word now and it just sounds so un-Australian. What is wrong with "bottom" or "bum" (or even "khyber" as my dad used to call it!)?
My daughter is turning 9 soon. I have been telling her since last year's extravaganza that 2008 would be a 'non-party' year. Was thinking we could do something special with a few close friends (having been at her new school for just over a year, she now has a better idea of who her close friends are). I was thinking maybe a movie so had a look at the local cinema's website to try and get an idea of what will be on next month and only saw this:

I'm sure the girls would love it but could I BEAR it???
Would much prefer this:

but maybe a bit dark for a 9yo's birthday celebration?
Thinking the movie, Kung Fu Panda, would be a good one for everyone (daughter currently up to her purple sash in Kung Fu) but don't think it starts in Australia till later in the year.
