It turns out the school is in Brisbane, not Sydney, so perhaps I was a little hard on the Sydney Anglican diocese (still have problems with their conservative stance on other issues though, eg, the ordination of women). 

Anyway, good on those boys for being so courageous.  As someone quoted in the second article says:

"It takes a lot of courage for young men and women to come out as gay or lesbian when they're still at school and it takes a lot more courage, I think, than I had at that age to say that you want to take your partner to the school formal," she said.

I hope the student does decide to take this matter to the Anti-Discrimination Commission given that the school is undoubtedly acting unlawfully in this case.

Kids seem very lovey dovey after their 8 day separation.  I was going to take them to the pool or something yesterday afternoon but they spent practically the whole day holed up in their bedroom playing together!  V also got J to try on his new school uniform which looked very cute.  He is so excited to be joining V at 'big school'.  This photo is from the start of last year when he could only look on enviously.

As expected, the house is now a disaster zone, eg, entire contents of suitcase disgorged next to the washing machine (don't they have washing machines on the island???) so I am feeling pretty cranky about that.  Ten times as many dishes as ds and I had been generating and hot wheels race tracks running all across the bedroom floor. 

Back to the old stress and chaos getting everyone reading for work/holiday care this morning - was almost a relief getting into the office.
