• the reason everyone so tired and emotional yesterday was that my daughter had her concert at the Sydney Opera House on Monday night.  She was in the combined Primary Schools choir and performed alongside loads of talented children from public school across the State.  It was a great night!
• my friend is back from Dubai and I caught up with her on the weekend.  She is about my only friend in Sydney with a son so it will be great to have someone to do "boy things" with again, eg, going to see Star Wars: the Clone Wars after it comes out. 
• the kids liked my ideas for Book Week costumes and we managed to find a few bits and pieces out shopping last night (including a great Pippi dress at the op shop).

Looking forward to:

• my husband's 50th birthday in September (hoping to get away somewhere for the weekend as he doesn't want a big party or a big fuss).
• accompanying my son's class on their IMAX excursion (his teacher asked me while we were both herding errant choristers on Monday night).
• going to Melbourne during the next school holidays and hopefully getting to see Wicked while I am there.

I found these flowers on my chair when I got back from lunch the other day - a gift from my boss to say thanks for the work I had done on a particular project.  Aren't they lovely?

Has anything unlucky happened to you today?

I hope not.  I finally handed in a big project at work that I have been working on for months.  My boss has taken it home to look at over the weekend and, if okay, will take the next steps to progressing the recommendations on Monday.  I am so hoping she doesn't have any problems as I am very much over this project.  It is the reason I have been working such long hours lately and have woken up with a headache this morning (Saturday the 14th).

I have been reminded of Marvin by this miserable old git, N, I have had the displeasure of working beside for the past six weeks or so.  Not only do I have to sit near this guy and listen to him moaning and bitching all day but he is responsible for one part of the project I am managing.  You can imagine how well he responds to any "constructive feedback" I have to give him on his work (which I am going to have to sign off on eventually).  I have had such a gutful of this guy.  Not only is he a misery-guts but he is also nasty and verbally aggressive at times (which Marvin was not).  He gets away with all this because "it's just the way N is".  Wish we could just take his batteries out and let him run down.  I'm sick of him spreading his negativity like its a contagious disease.
